Oh Cupcake

So I was catching up with some of my emails today and found a website I had never been to, FredFlare.com. They had some interesting accessories that I would never have thought I needed. People really have gone nuts over frozen yogurt and cupcake shops. But now they are converting that craze to wearable items. I personally like the cupcake beanie though. They need a strawberry shortcake version. I think Kc would intentionally get hurt to wear those delicious bacon band-aids.

Seattle times

This last week we flew up to Seattle to hangout with Kc's family and show my sister Josie and her husband Eric around. Josie and Eric had never been and wanted Kc to be their tour guide. I am not sure what they thought of our tour guide skills, but we had a lot of fun. Some of the highlights were:
-Hanging out with Kc's family before his younger brother Mark left for the Army.
-A mandatory Mariners game where during their series with the Yankees they won 2 of the 3 games and we managed to go on the night they lost. Still fun though. Other than watching the game we saw a dance off between Superman and Batman that was pretty hilarious, I think it lasted 5 minutes. (Which is a long time for solo spotlight)



-Eating at Ivar's, shopping at Pike Place, going to the top of the space needle, and visiting Ye Old Curiosity Shop

-Fishing in the Snoqualmie River with four people in a canoe. Eric and I were beginners but Kc and his Dad were showing us how it was done. We were very subtle with our movements hoping not to tip.

Labor day weekend was a roller coaster. Kc and I worked real hard all week studying for boards, working in Emeryville, and teaching seminary to escape down to Monterey. We got into town with just enough time to go to the wharf and eat dinner. Going to Monterey was a late anniversary celebration, so when we walked in the restaurant I told the lady to seat us in the best table because we were on our honeymoon. She brought us upstairs, and the accordion player sang us Love and Marriage, but I think our jeans and hoodies gave us away. The next day we decided to go whale watching. There are a lot of boat charters to take you whale watching-which could make it a tricky decision, but for Kc it was easy. Whichever company got us home in time to watch the BYU football game. Boy were we happy with our decision, we saw a BLUE WHALE and 3 humpback whales. Blue whales are the largest animal on EARTH, and one came 30 feet from our boat. A lady on our boat was almost in tears, saying it was the best day of her 50 years of life. Kc said the same thing when the Cougars pulled out the win to beat the Sooners and jumped to 9th in the Nation. We had a great time and were lucky to get out before all the traffic poured into Monterey for Sunday and Labor Day.

Reggae festival at the fair was a little too expensive, but paying $45 to smoke doobies must be worth it to someone.

However on Monday, I wished I could rewind and stay in Monterey the whole weekend to avoid getting my car window smashed in and destroyed. Kc was studying all day and so I had to find an activity to go out and do for cheap after we made a few too many Gilroy outlet purchases. I decided to go biking around Lake Merritt, a park in Oakland. While I was gone pedaling around some jerk smashed the smallest window on the passenger side of my car, which I found out later are the most money! What? I talked to a police officer that was circling in the park, and he said he may know who did it, there was a "regular" in that area but that usually nothing comes of it. What is the point? How do these people get away with these deeds without being seen? He had to have been there for a while to break the window and clear the glass and go through all of our bags. I just hope someone out there has caught a burglar in the act-just once. The ironic thing is that I hardly ever drive. I take AC Transit wherever I go, and the second I drive I get a ticket for taking an illegal U-turn(2 months ago), or get our car vandalized. Better stay inside from now on.

Closing out Summer

It feels like summer is almost over, not because the weather is cooling down because it hasn't yet, but because summer trips are over and teaching seminary has started. I can't believe I got through 9+ months of waking up at 5am last year. It seems more difficult this year without Kc teaching with me. He tells me when to go to bed now and scares me out of pressing snooze. Here are some fun things I squeezed in before the end of summer.

Lots of fun cannot believe summer '09 is coming to an end.

3 Years?? Just a Drop in the Bucket

This is a tribute to Molly Bethans. Since we have been together Molly has always insisted that I surprise her whenever possible. As hard as I try I have never been able to keep a secret from her and that includes all the gifts/nice things I try to do for her. But I think I finally did it right and yesterday was a great day! Our anniversary celebration started off with Molly sneaking out of bed when I was getting ready for school and cooking a nice hot breakfast without me even knowing it. Even though it was 6:30am and the sun was just coming up she made it a candle light breakfast. Molly-1 K.C.-0 She beat me to it, but I loved it!!



So then it was my turn to get her back. I left school around lunch time and she was expecting me to come home around 5. I made a quick trip to get some flowers and chocolates and then did a knock and run at our apartment. Surprise #1 = a success. I snuck in a few minutes later and then we had the rest of the day to have fun.


I had called a few weeks back and reserved a spot at this excellent place in the Berkeley Marina called Skates on the Bay. You have to cross a little bridge to get in cause the restaurant literally sits right in the bay. It was delicious...you must go and eat there! Molly will claim that she knew I was going to take here there but she had no idea until we were almost to the place. Surprise #2 = success.

It was very windy after dinner when we walked out to the end of the pier and back.

It was an amazing day, definitely one for the books. Hopefully I've learned my lesson on how to keep and finally execute a decent surprise. And to my gorgeous wife...You're the best, I love you.
