This just in...pops got himself bear number two yesterday afternoon. It was on the move to eat up Lucy our little Jack Russel Terrier but dad got to it first. I look forward to some more bear jerky next visit. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

Truckee or Truckout

We spent the week of the 4th of July in Truckee CA just north of Lake Tahoe and we had an amazing time at the Christensen family reunion 2008. Thanks to Emily and Jaren we spent a lot of time on Donner Lake wakesurfing. We looked much better than these people.One night we headed into the biggest little city in the world. Reno...probably not going back for a while because there's only so much to do there but it was fun while it lasted

If we were hungry we would've stopped in to Molly's Garden Restaurant. The picture was good enough though. It gave us some ideas for future restaurant plans.

On Saturday the 5th we spent the afternoon in Squaw Valley home of the 1960 Olympic games. We took the tram up and there was a sweet pool on top of the mountain that we played in all afternoon. We even had some wildlife watching us in the dirtiest hot tub I've ever seen.

I don't know what game we played but I guess I ended up with the Bronze Metal...Molly won the gold and Martha the silver metal. I was pretty upset as you can tell.

It was a lot of fun to hang out with the family, play some golf, play with nieces and nephews, do crafts, play softball, celebrate a great birthday for Eve on the 3rd, eat too much great food, and tons of other stuff. All in all it was a great vacation

An Ode to Erin Jones

My sister has given birth to her 7th child today and I want to take this opportunity to give all the congradulations that I can! Here's a little poem I found:

The Welcome

Little fingers curl up tight to make a tiny fist,
As fairy lips purse out as if to make a gentle kiss. . .
Eyes, wide as a kitten's, and little button nose,
You look like someone's angel--down to your pudgy toes. . .

Although you are so wrinkled and your face is still so pale,
And the only song you seem to know sounds like a shrilling wail,
When you are here before me, finally, I feel complete.
I've waited so long, sweetheart. . . at last, we finally meet.

I must say that Brinley will be a great addition to the family and we're happy that she's here. Good luck!...If I had a picture I would post it.

MTA poll

MTA (Metropolitan Transit Authority) also known as Molly Transportation Advice.

Alameda has street cred

Today I was reading the magazine San Francisco and ran across a department called, Street Detail which had listed all the great features of Alameda. I was not surprised one bit. The writer Peggy Nauts, which by the way is a sweet name, said "Alameda may finally be achieving that perfect, elusive mix of hip and historic." Some of the places she listed we have tried or walked into, but there are more I have never even heard of. I thought it was funny how there was an image of Matt Wong, (the owner of the retail store District). He has a softball team named District, (obsessed much?) who are in Kc's league. Kc's team just played them 3 weeks ago and competed significantly better than their first attempt which resulted in a slaughter. Kc's softball team, Boom Goes the Dynamite is playing tonight - maybe I will bring the camera and report if, I mean when they get a W. Click on the images for high res. scanned art.

A love and hate relationship

When the word muffin top comes to mind it is both good and uncomfortable. I swear if my work brings these box of muffins around more often I will have a full blown muffin top. But these muffins are so delicious. They are from the Walnut Creek Baking Company. I think I ate 3 muffins today before 1pm. mmmm!

Chalk Full of Sand

I love living in Alameda and having enough abandoned parking lots from the old Naval Base to create the Guinness Book of World Record for the largest chalk drawing EVER. While Kc was diligently working for Orkin, Whitney and Bret Baker and I biked over to the Alameda Point and started to leave our marks, after a mandatory pit stop to Lee's Donuts.

I decided to draw a bathing beauty in a neon green inter-tube and a polk-a-dot one piece.

Brad and Monica came to join the fun. We are trying to show how dirty you can get beating a Guinness World Record. The people in charge outlined the entire image and kids from schools nearby and the rest of the community came to fill in the whole graphic. After the whole drawing was complete a satellite took a picture from above.

On the bike ride home we found an annual sand castle contest on Alameda's South Shore. We saw such a huge crowd and doubted it was for Alameda's quality beaches. These are some of the castles/creations made.
