60th Anniversary!!

Molly and I have made it a tradition each year, back from when we even first started dating, to watching the highly anticipated Warren Miller films that are "the official start to winter". This one, Dynasty, was Warrens 60th and was just like the others: It was GREAT, had lots of powder in it, showed highlights from all over the globe, it had its comedic flare and made me want to set aside some money for a heli trip to the Chugach mountain range in Alaska...soon enough...anyone want to come with me? What it didn't have: Warren as the narrator...he was way better than Mr. Mosely. An awesome segment about the skiing/snowboarding in Utah (which they usually do)...maybe next year.

One of the best parts about this year was that we (because of scheduling conflicts) missed the showings that they were doing in Berkeley and had to run into SF to see it in the Castro. I had no idea that this theater was so amazing. I definitely recommend heading there to see something because of this guy....

We didn't get the camera out fast enough but this old dude sits above this huge organ and it's elevated over the stage and he just plays random stuff as people enter the theater. Before the show started he cranked the thing way up and I'm not gonna lie...I was pumped up by the little organ man. Molly got this shot right before he almost sunk completely into the stage.

Our host, Steven Baker.

We never made a trip when we lived in Alameda, however the Grand Lake Theatre in Oakland also has a pipe organ dude that plays before movies in the main theatre on Fridays and Saturdays I believe. If Molly dares to park her car there again, I'd highly recommend seeing a movie there and arriving early enough to hear Baby Elephant on the organ.
