I feel nauseous at work

For the past hour my office has been talking one sided about the issue of Prop 8. The only problem is they do not accept any of the issues that the people for the proposition stand for. They think it is an attack on them as gay people period. There is no understanding of the other side, and I feel like screaming when I hear them talking about it. And I know that if I mentioned anything they would never talk to me again, and quite possibly become more eager than they already are to get rid of me. In a sense I feel like my freedom of speech has already been limited. Work is not the place where I feel comfortable talking about your political and religious views on an election, but I still want to spread the word. When my office ventures out of the office I actually have long conversations with co-workers about the Church, and they give off a sense of respect for my values. But this issue is so touchy and I feel there is no understanding of our Yes on Prop 8 stance.
In particular a co-worker of mine that I interact with daily married his partner in June. He was saying that "If I had any friend that was voting yes on prop 8 I would consider that a personal attack and that they do not accept me as a person whom has a gay marriage." All I want to do is keep the traditional definition of marriage as was intended in the beginning and protect our rights of freedom of speech for marriage in the future.

Make sure to vote!

Stay strong. . . never an easy thing to be in the minority especially in the workplace. I know so many people have worked hard for Prop. 8 in CA, hopefully it will pass!

It must be hard to feel like you might be attacked for your beliefs. It is so frustrating when people who preach equality and understanding refuse to understand that there are always two sides to every coin. Hopefully things start looking up around there. Try not to start a riot like at York Prep when you guys told our 80% Jewish classroom that the Jews crucified Jesus.

Stand your ground. You don't need to be aggressive about it, but you shouldn't need to give an inch.

Sounds like you won't sway any opinions at work, but you can talk to all your friends and neighbors to make sure they know what Proposition 8 is and that they do something about it. Getting out the vote is important.
