Hank gets spanked

Hank turned one on Saturday and we decided to go to the San Francisco Zoo. They were having an event called, "Boo at the Zoo" which made it even more fun. There was a puppet show and stations of Halloween treats. Some of the highlights from the zoo were:

1) Grizzly Bear feeding, they had some huge claws and came up close to the glass!

2) Hank trying out his shoes I bought for him before he was born

3) Halftime at the zoo where we took a break at the playground

4) Kids petting zoo, Hank had no fear but the goats didn't either. They almost charged him.

5) Eating applesauce in the African exhibit with giraffes and gorillas

Hank then decided to feed the Gorilla by throwing said applesauce into the exhibit. The gorilla immediately picked up the applesauce and ate the rest. At least Hank or I didn't get pushed into the exhibit like Christina Applegate in Anchorman.

Lots of fun at the zoo, perfect weather and a happy birthday boy!  

We then rushed home to finish sewing Hank's Halloween costume and painting my lolly pop costume before some ward parties. Without having a true nap, Hank was not stoked to get into an Oompa Loompa outfit and get his face painted. He was throwing a fit so after days of sewing, he only wore half of his costume.

He kept this costume clean for a minute, then ripped off the foam balls on his shoe covers and poured a pitcher of water down his entire body.

Pumpkin Patch

Kc, Hank and I went to a pumpkin patch in Livermore a few weeks ago and it was pretty fun, however let's just say in 99% of the pictures my eyes were closed.

What's been going on

I haven't posted for a while so I need to catch up. Summer weather went cold then hot, cold, hot and back to cold. Hank really mastered walking a month ago so we would go on walks around the neighborhood and he would stop to pick up everything on the ground. Now a few months later all he wants to do is run into the street.
I miss the days where Hank wouldn't even touch a blade of grass.

At the end of September Kc, Hank and I went to WA to visit the Oliver clan and go to KC's 10 year high school reunion. To reward all the grandkids for reading during the summer we went to the YMCA pool. For some reason Hank only wanted to get out. Baby steps I guess.

When we got home there was a heat wave so Hank and I checked out a park with a water feature.

A fear that Hank has conquered is hanging out with this creepy golf club head cover of KC's. We used to scare him with it so he would cuddle with the person holding him, but now he actually cuddles with the caveman. Kc will ask Hank where is the GEICO man and he goes and finds it. Hahaha. It seriously is the most manly teddy bear a baby could have.

10 months and alphabet pajamas

Hank turned 10 months a few weeks ago and I took some footage and pictures for a record. Here is a day in the life of Hank. 

7:30 wake up when Kc's alarm goes off

 

7:45 wave good bye to Dad as he drives to work

8:00 eat breakfast with Mom, not to happy to be buckled in his seat

8:20- 9:00 playtime

9:00 workout* haha we don't actually do this daily

He was holding on to the pull-up bar alone the last 10 seconds of the clip, and yes he was trying to eat the bar

8:45 pm say hello and play with Dad before getting a bath

Hank loves his new alphabet pajamas I found at the Gap outlet. He is NOT a fan of the footed pajamas yet. He would prefer to always have his toes free and breezy. Hank is a fan of just sucking on food for a second or two and then spitting it out. I have to try hard to get him to swallow unless it is eggs, he is a fan of eggs. He has reverted to needing food before sleeping but most of the time when he is awake as long as we are doing something outside or playing he is a happy camper. Two days ago we went over to my neighbors, Karina and Slavik to say hello to their 1.5 year old Emily. They had a kiddie pool out front and Hank tested the water by poking it with his red baseball bat. Then he decided to go in on all fours to grab a toy, a few minutes later he was fully in and fully clothed. He loves the water, but started shivering since the water was maybe 70 degrees at the highest. He babbles a bit, but mostly says Mama and Dadda. He thinks you only say Mama when you want something, or need help. He is my buddy, keeps me company while KC is working.

Visiting home

After having a fun week of celebrating our fifth anniversary and attending Lindsey's wedding Hank, Martha and I drove Anne's car back "home" to my parents. Hank loved the beach, how bright and sunny my parent's house is and sleeping with waves crashing in the background. In my mind it is paradise, and going from our apartment to their house reminds me why my Dad growing up would say, "Why do you want to go to Hawaii?, we practically live in Hawaii." Yes, there are fun cultural differences when actually vacationing in Hawaii, but CDM is pretty close.

My parents are motivated to workout every day until Thanksgiving, so I am joining with them. While down south we played tennis a lot and went on walks. My parents are always in great shape, and beat me at tennis every time. I wish I was better and will have to practice since I am obsessed with the US Open right now. My mom and I also took Hank to Little Corona where he learned how to pat a bucket with a shovel and make a sand castle. He went in the water and loved to people watch. Then while Hank was napping I helped my Dad out a little on the house. People like to give you weird looks when you are standing on your roof with a plug in sander, paint chipper and baby monitor in your hand. Hank slept right through the scrapping and sanding anyhow.

I wish I had a picture, but Martha and I went to a Sky High Sports Airobics class where you jump on a trampoline for an hour straight and do crazy moves to workout. It was intense and about 80 degrees in the gym. It was hilarious, but serious at the same time. During the class two people sprained their ankles and the instructor always stopped and had us clap them off. I am laughing typing about this. It was funny. Martha and I also got to visit my awesome cousin Megan and her husband Justin who were in town staying in Long Beach. We had fun eating, going to the LB Museum of Art and looking at a few thrift shops. It made me super excited for our Christensen Family reunion in November.
